During his visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was gifted the “World Tipitaka: Sajjhaya Phonetic Edition” by Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra as a mark of cultural and spiritual significance.
This sacred Buddhist scripture, consisting of 108 volumes, encapsulates Lord Buddha’s teachings and is regarded as a key spiritual text. The special edition, meticulously crafted in Pali and Thai scripts, was first published in 2016 to commemorate the 70-year reign of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and Queen Sirikit. The presentation of this revered text highlights India’s spiritual leadership and strong ties with Buddhist nations.

Expressing solidarity with Myanmar, PM Modi extended condolences for the March 28 earthquake, offering India’s prayers and support for those affected.

As part of his diplomatic tour, PM Modi departed for Thailand to participate in the sixth BIMSTEC Summit, where he is set to engage with regional leaders on economic growth and connectivity within the Bay of Bengal region.
In his departure statement, he emphasized the importance of BIMSTEC as a crucial platform for fostering regional development and economic progress over the past decade.

Upcoming Visit to Sri Lanka
Following his Thailand visit, PM Modi will travel to Sri Lanka on April 4 for a two-day diplomatic tour. This visit builds on President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s successful trip to India in December, aimed at reviewing progress on the ‘Fostering Partnerships for a Shared Future’ vision.
He also expressed optimism that these visits would reinforce India’s close bilateral ties with its neighbors, benefiting the region as a whole.
