Google Launches New Gemini Features
Google has introduced new capabilities for its Gemini app, improving its ability to assist users with brainstorming, research, and content generation. The latest features include real-time document editing and prototype creation. A newly added “Canvas” feature enables users to write and edit documents or code collaboratively, with updates appearing instantly.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced these updates on X, highlighting the introduction of Canvas and Audio Overview. He stated, “We’re introducing Canvas and welcoming Audio Overview to the @GeminiApp today. Turn docs, slides + Deep Research reports into podcasts with Audio Overview. Or create a doc or coding project with Canvas – it spins up prototypes super fast and you can edit with Gemini in real-time.”
A short video shared in the post showcases how these features function within the Gemini app. Pichai also confirmed in the comments that Canvas is now accessible to all users, while Audio Overview is rolling out in English, with support for more languages on the way.
What These Features Mean for Users
Canvas serves as an interactive tool for drafting, editing, and sharing content. It allows users to refine documents and code in real-time, generate drafts, and make quick edits. Designed for collaboration, it seamlessly integrates with Google Docs for easy exporting.
The feature also enhances programming by supporting code generation, debugging, and explanations. Developers can swiftly create and preview HTML/React code and web app prototypes, making it a valuable tool for both professionals and students learning to code.

Meanwhile, Audio Overview transforms documents, slides, and Deep Research reports into podcast-style discussions. Using AI-generated dialogues between two hosts, it summarizes content, highlights key points, and offers insights. Users can upload files to receive an Audio Overview, making it a convenient way to consume information on the go.
Audio Overview is currently being introduced to Gemini and Gemini Advanced subscribers in English, with plans to expand language support soon.
