It is also the world&#8217;s third-oldest football competition.<\/p>\n<p>Although, the 2023 edition of the Durand Cup will feature 24 teams, including teams from the Indian Super League, I-League, and the Armed Forces. Nepal and Bangladesh army teams join the competition this season. Teams are in 6 groups of 4.\u00a0 The top six teams from the group stage will advance to the knockout stage. The Durand Cup is the season-opening tournament of India&#8217;s domestic football calendar.<\/p>\n<p>43 matches will be played across 4 venues in Assam and also in West Bengal in the 132nd Durand Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Bengaluru FC are the defending champions and also having defeated Mumbai City FC 2-1 in the final in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, Mohun Bagan and East Bengal are the most successful teams in the Durand Cup, having won the historic trophy 16 times each. The derby between these two teams is one of the most anticipated matches in Indian football.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The 132nd edition of the Durand Cup will feature 24 teams divided into six groups of four teams each.
