Gold Jewellary with 6-digit HUID number mandatory from 1st April, each piece of its Jewellary will contain a BIS hallmark, purity of gold and a 6- digit alphanumeric ID embossed in it.<\/p>\n

It will contain the (Hallmark Unique Identification) HUID even if the consumer is buying it from a nearby Jewellary store.<\/p>\n

Let us inform you that the 4-digit HUID was already in place, but its use was come to an end over 2 years ago.<\/p>\n

Now, the sale of gold Jewellary containing 4-digit HUID number will be ceased from 1st April.<\/p>\n

During a programme, Prithviraj Kothari, Managing Director of Riddhisiddhi Bullion Ltd (RSBL), said that consumers of gold are ready to put six-digit HUID into effect but it would be good if the central government could give some extensions. Although, he emphasized that the six- digit HUID<\/a> should be made compulsory all around the country.<\/p>\n

Why the Government is Shifting from 4-difit to a 6-digit HUID?<\/h2>\n

According to Ashish Pethe, who is a chairman of the Gem and Jewellary Domestic Council (GJC), the decision is focuses on assuring the purity of Hallmarked Jewellary.<\/p>\n

How this will Impact Consumers of Gold Jewellary?<\/h2>\n

The Managing Director of Riddhisiddhi Bullion Ltd (RSBL) emphasized that consumers with 4-digit HUID Jewellary will not going to face any difficulties while selling their Jewellary.<\/p>\n

“The new 6-digit HUID is only for Jewelers because from 1st April, they will not be permitted to sell Jewellary to consumers without this 6-digit HUID number”.<\/p>\n

Yogesh Singhal of the Bullion and Jewelers Association thinks that Jewelers\u00a0 are prepared to start this initiative but added that it would be good if the government could give some extension in certain cases.<\/p>\n

How Consumer can Check 6-digit HUID Number<\/h2>\n

This 6-digit HUID will be different to each piece of Jewellary and consumers can easily check this number and details using BIS Care A.<\/p>\n
