Every year we observe Indian Army Day on 15 th January. This year in 2023, the country is celebrating 75 th anniversary of Indian Army Day.<\/p>\n

It is the day when Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa who was earlier a lieutenant General become the first commander in Chief of the Indian Army took the place of Last British Commander in Chief of the country, General Francis Bucher in the year 1949. And from there Parades, medal awarding and many other functions and observance are organized to commemorate the Army Day.<\/p>\n

Having the motive of \u201cservice before self\u201d, the Indian Army becomes the largest and the most crucial part of the Indian Armed Forces.<\/p>\n

Know why this Day is celebrated on 15 January?<\/h2>\n

Indian Army Day<\/a> on notably celebrated on 15 th January because this day Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa became the commander in chief of India, despite celebrations can be seen all around the country, the main Army Day parade it observed at the Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment.<\/p>\n

Let us inform you that India didn\u2019t have any Indian commander in Chief until 15 th January 1949, In spite of got independence in 1947. This is why the day becomes very crucial for India.<\/p>\n

In the year 1949, India got its first Indian Chief. The transfer of position from the British to the country signals an extremely important time in the India\u2019s Past and is observed as Army Day.<\/p>\n
