Every year on 10th January, 1949 Hindi Diwas is celebrated. Hindi Diwas was first spoken in the UN General Assembly (UNGA), we started observing World Hindi Day as the date established “Vishwa Hindi Diwas”.
According to the statistics, Hindi language is the third most spoken language in the Globe that comes after Mandarin Chinese and English, with approximate 600 million speakers all around the world.

The celebration dates back to 1949 when the language Hindi was officially accepted as the medium of Indian speaker to communicate at the (UNGA) for the first time.
Our Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi has initiated the very first world- Hindi conference, was held in Maharashtra’s Nagpur in the year 1975 to celebrate the achievement. It was on 10 th January, 1975 where the first World Hindi conference officially took place. Together with 100 delegates from around 30 countries, after 2006, the then- Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh made the promulgation that annually, January 10 th will be commemorated as World Hindi Day also known as “Vishwa Hindi Diwas”.

Significance of the Language “Hindi”
World Hindi Day is a special occasion where we acknowledge Hindi as a universal language. The date is also important because it highlights developing an affection for the language and understanding the contributions of Hindi spokesperson.
In addition, the language is used to raise consciousness and recognition of the use of the Indian language as well as the current issues with Hindi usage and it’s Furtherance.
The day is celebrated with a magnificence pomp and display by the Ministry of External affairs. Many events are planned to promote the language that includes poetry, cultural events, speech contests, quizzes and debates.

The theme for World Hindi Day 2023 is “to make Hindi a part of public opinion, however this does not emphasis anyone to leave their mother tongue but to emphasize the significance of promoting Hindi language World wide.
