WhatsApp has officially launched its iPad app.
WhatsApp Now Available on iPad with Full Feature Support
Meta has officially introduced a native WhatsApp app for iPad users, bringing a more seamless and feature-rich experience to the tablet. Previously, users had to access WhatsApp through a web browser, but the new app eliminates that limitation.
This new update enables iPad users to place voice and video calls with as many as 32 participants, effortlessly share their screen, and switch between the front and rear cameras. The app is built to work smoothly with iPadOS multitasking features like Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over, letting users message, browse, and multitask all at the same time.
Also, it confirmed that the iPad app supports accessories like the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil, enhancing productivity and ease of use.
This new app lets users effortlessly keep their messages, calls, and media in perfect sync across iPhones, Macs, and other devices, all while maintaining WhatsApp’s signature end-to-end encryption for privacy.
The launch wasn’t entirely unexpected—Meta’s WhatsApp handle hinted at it recently with a low-key on-post.
Interestingly, Instagram is also said to be working on its own iPad app, signaling Meta’s focus on expanding tablet support.
WhatsApp’s iPad app was developed by a specialized team within Meta’s India R&D center, reflecting Meta’s growing focus on regional innovation. The app is expected to soon integrate enhanced WhatsApp Business features, catering to entrepreneurs using iPads.
It’s optimized for smooth switching between Wi-Fi and cellular networks, solving connection drop issues common with the web version. Additionally, multi-account support is being tested, allowing users to manage personal and work accounts without logging out.
Future updates may leverage Apple’s ARKit for augmented reality effects during video calls, and cross-device sticker syncing is in the works, so your custom stickers will be available seamlessly across iPhone and iPad.
