Manchester City, the defending champions, will learn their fate for the 2023-2024 UEFA Champions League season when the draw takes place in Monaco on Thursday. Pep Guardiola’s side will be in Pot A, along with other top European clubs such as FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Napoli, Paris Saint-Germain, Feyenoord, Sevilla, and Benfica. Arsenal and Real Madrid are in Pot B. Newcastle United and Manchester United are the other two English representatives in the draw. Newcastle United are returning to the Champions League for the first time in 20 years.
The UEFA Champions League is back, and the group stage draw for the 2023-2024 season will take place on Thursday. Fans around the world will be able to watch as the 32 teams are drawn into eight groups of four. The teams will be seeded into four pots, based on their UEFA club coefficients. Teams from the same association cannot be drawn into the same group. The winners of the six highest-ranked leagues will be in the top pot, along with the defending champions. The runners-up of the six highest-ranked leagues will be in the second pot, and so on. UEFA will also announce the winners of several awards from last season during the event.
The UEFA Champions League group stage draw will be held on Thursday, August 31st at 9:30 PM IST at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The live broadcast of the draw will be available on Sony TEN 2 and Sony TEN 2HD channels in India, and it will also be live-streamed on Sony Liv.

The six teams in Pot A are the champions of their respective leagues, just like Manchester City. Real Madrid, the record 14-time European champions and winners in 2022, are in Pot B with the likes of Inter Milan, Arsenal, and Manchester United. Arsenal are back in Europe’s elite club competition for the first time since 2016/17. Newcastle United, who have not appeared in the Champions League in two decades, are in Pot D.
Lens of France are also back in the Champions League for the first time in 20 years, as are Union Berlin, who are appearing for the first time in their history after finishing fourth in the Bundesliga last season.
The first matches in the group stage will take place on September 19 and 20, and the final will be held at Wembley in London on June 1, 2024.
