Spotify Expands AI-Narrated Audiobooks.
Spotify has strengthened its support for AI-narrated audiobooks by partnering with ElevenLabs.

Audiobooks featuring AI narration will be clearly labeled in Spotify’s metadata, with a description indicating, “This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice.
While Spotify previously allowed AI-generated narration via Google Play Books, this collaboration offers authors more choices. However, its audiobook production platform, Findaway, maintains specific regulations for AI narration services.
Spotify continues to expand its global audiobook presence, emphasizing its commitment to equipping authors with tools to reach listeners and making it more accessible for them to share their work, according to a company statement.
The company launched its audiobook service in September 2022, following its acquisition of audiobook production platform Findaway in November 2021. By November 2023, Spotify introduced 15 hours of free audiobook listening for premium users in the U.S.

As part of its efforts to diversify beyond podcasting, Spotify has not yet disclosed specific revenue figures for its audiobook segment.
“This greatly strengthens our offering, driving higher user engagement and reducing churn,” Spotify CEO Daniel Ek stated in November 2023. He also highlighted that this initiative enhances business flexibility, ultimately supporting long-term revenue and profit growth.
