Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a unique week-long program for aspirational blocks in the country called ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ at the Bharat Mandapam at 10 a.m. on September 30, 2023.
Sankalp Saptaah is a week-long program that supports the effective implementation of the Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP), a nationwide program launched by the Prime Minister on January 7th.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has stated that the Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP) aims to improve governance at the block level and enhance the quality of life for citizens. The program is being implemented in 500 aspirational blocks across 329 districts in India. To prepare an effective block development strategy, chintan shivirs (brainstorming sessions) were organized at village and block levels across the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that the Aspirational Districts Programme has transformed the lives of over 25 crore people in 112 Indian districts, and its success will now serve as the foundation for the Aspirational Blocks Programme.
Sankalp Saptaah is a week-long program that builds on the outcomes of the chintan shivirs. It will be observed in all 500 aspirational blocks across India, with each day dedicated to a specific development theme.

The first six days will focus on the following themes: Sampoorna Swasthya (Total Health), Suposhit Parivaar (Nutritious Families), Swachhta (Cleanliness), Krishi (Agriculture), Shiksha (Education), and Samridhi Diwas (Prosperity Day). The last day of the program, October 9th, 2023, will be a celebration of the collective achievements of the week, called Sankalp Saptaah – Samavesh Samaroh.

At the launch of a week-long program called ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ for India’s aspirational blocks in New Delhi, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of using resources wisely, coordinating efforts across different sectors, and involving the public in grassroots development.
The inaugural program of Sankalp Saptaah is expected to be attended by about 3,000 panchayat and block-level representatives and functionaries from across the country at Bharat Mandapam. Additionally, about 200,000 people, including block and panchayat level functionaries, farmers, and others, will join the program virtually.
