PM Modi is set to inaugurate the Z-Morh Tunnel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Srinagar on Monday morning to inaugurate the Z-Morh tunnel in the Ganderbal district.

The event is taking place under heightened security measures across the district and other regions of Kashmir.

Upon arrival at the Srinagar Technical Airport, senior officials from the J&K administration will welcome PM Modi, Sat Sharma, the President of the BJP’s J&K unit, and other notable BJP leaders.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take a helicopter to Sonamarg from the airport, where he will officially inaugurate the Z-Morh Tunnel and address a public gathering.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and several other dignitaries and officials will attend the ceremony.

This event represents a major milestone in the government’s mission to enhance connectivity and infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.

The 6.5 km Z-Morh Tunnel is a crucial project designed to provide year-round access to the scenic Sonamarg tourist destination, which was previously inaccessible during winter due to heavy snowfall.

The tunnel is part of a broader plan, which includes the ongoing construction of the Zojila Tunnel, aimed at ensuring all-weather connectivity to the strategically vital Ladakh region.

Ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s visit, security has been intensified in the Srinagar and Ganderbal districts. Senior police officials are stationed in Ganderbal to oversee the arrangements.

The Ganderbal-Zojila road has been closed to public traffic from Saturday through Monday to ensure security in the area.

Special Security Group (SSG) personnel have taken control of the site days in advance, with multiple checkpoints set up to regulate movement.

After inaugurating the tunnel at 11:45 am, the Prime Minister will address a public gathering in Sonamarg.

Officials anticipate a large turnout for the address, where PM Modi is expected to emphasize the development and integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country.
