Noida Expressway slows down speed limits to maintain safety in fast lane during fog

To enhance safety during winter’s foggy mornings, Noida police have put into effect stricter speed regulations. Slow down starting this Friday, the new limits stick around till February 15th. Commercial vehicles exceeding a certain weight class are restricted to a maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour, whereas smaller, passenger vehicles are permitted to travel at up to 75 kilometers per hour. The crucial six -lane expressway, stretching for approximately 25 kilometers, serves as a vital transportation link between Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar district, accommodating a significant volume of traffic daily.

Driven by concerns for public safety in the face of extreme, Fogy season, safe speeds: Noida -Greater Noida Expressway takes action such as :

Cars: 75kmph (down from 100 km)

Trucks: 50 kmph (down from 80 km)

This change is effective from December 15, 2023, to February 15, 2024. these new limits should be followed by everyone:

  1. Rs. 2,000 fine: For exceeding the speed limit.
  2. License suspension: For accumulating three or more challans.
  3. Vehicle registration cancellation: For repeat offenses.

During winter the fog increases day by day here are some of the things everyone should consider doing so that it diminishes the possibility of accidents.

Using fog lights can make the vehicles more visible to other drivers,  maintaining a safe distance by keeping your distance and braking before and cancel any possibility of a sudden accident, driving at slow speed can diminish the chances of accident and also be extra cautious at intersections and crosswalks.

Alarming trend: Noida and Greater Noida witnessed a staggering 1,000 road accidents this year, claiming nearly 400 lives.  Authorities issued over 14 lakh challans in 2023, more than twice the number in2022, as fines expose deep-seated traffic woes in Noida-Greater Noida as fourteen lakh challans expose the desperate need for stricter enforcement and better road safety in this areas.
