Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was a one of the Freedom Fighter who plays vital role in giving us independence. Every year the nation observe Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti on 23 rd January, also the regional public holiday is seen in various north- eastern Indian states today.
This year marks the 126th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, who is a most popular figure in India’s struggle for the Freedom. The term ‘Netaji’ which means a ‘Respected leader’ was 1 st given to Subhash Chandra Bose by the Indian soldiers in 1945.
On 18 th August’1945, Bose died in a plane crash in Taiwan. Due to the Repercussions of his demise, the Government of India has ordered a number of committees to investigate the whole matter. After then, his life and legacy is seen as a motivation to young generation of India and this day is an opportunity to celebrate his bravery in the country’s Freedom movement.

History
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was born in Cuttack, a place in Orrisa on 23 rd January’ 1897. After completing his graduation in philosophy in Calcutta, he went to England to prepare for the Civil Services exams. In 1921, he returned to India, where his impassioned nationalism led to him being considered a revolutionary or insurgent by the British authorities.
He became a leader of the youth in India in the late 1920s, became congress president in 1938 and 1939. However, he left the position in 1939 due to his dissimilarity with Mahatma Gandhi and the Congress. He then was house arrested by the British before fleeing from the country in 1940.
In the Second World War, he made the Indian National army in Southeast Asia, and established a provisional government of free India in 1943 in Japanese Army.
Significance
Bose left his Indian Civil Services (ICS) Job in England and return to India in 1921 to join India’s struggle for Independence. In start he become member of Indian Nation Congress, later realized that to get freedom, it is required to wage war against British administration. He formed Azad Hind Fauj to counter the British. With his liberal beliefs and progressive nature, Bose inspired millions of youth to participate in India’s struggle for Independence.

Previous year PM Narendra Modi renamed 3 islands in Andaman & Nicobar to observe the 75 th anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
In West Bengal, many schools, universities organize programs to celebrate this day. Flag hoisting is also observed on 23 rd of January. Patriotic songs and National Anthem are sung in school and colleges.
This day is also observed as Parakram Day, also Today PM Modi paid homage to Netaji and tweets he will be remembered for his fierce resistance to colonial rule.
