Emerging into the world on January 23, 1897, in Cuttack, Odisha, Subhas Chandra Bose, the ninth child of Janakinath and Prabhavati, was destined for brilliance. He stormed through his studies, conquering philosophy at Presidency College (Calcutta) before being whisked off to England by his father to tackle the prestigious Civil Services Exam. There, he dominated the English section, claiming the top spot, and placed a formidable fourth overall.

A sharp pivot marked the year 1921. The promising path of the Indian Civil Service lay behind Subhas Chandra Bose as he turned his compass toward a turbulent India. His clashes with the colonial authorities, echoing like thunderclaps across the land, painted him as a rebel in the eyes of the British Raj

Netaji’s political fire was ignited under the wing of Chittaranjan Das, a leading figure in the Indian independence movement. Das, along with Motilal Nehru, had charted a new course through the formation of the Swaraj Party in 1922. Sharing their vision for a bolder path to self-rule, Netaji found his voice in journalism, launching “Swaraj” and later taking the helm of Das’s renowned “Forward” as its editor.

  • At just 26 years old, Netaji made his mark on the national stage by being elected President of the All India Youth Congress Committee and Secretary of the Bengal State Congress. This marked the beginning of his meteoric rise within the Indian independence movement. [Image depicting a young Netaji addressing a crowd of enthusiastic Indian youth.
