National Mathematics Day 2022: Check How this Day is Celebrated Every Year, Facts and Importance

National Mathematics Day is observed on 22 nd December on an annual basis to remember the birth date of renowned and expert Indian Mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan.

Every year this day acknowledge and praises his works. The day remembers the legendary mathematician who was born in 1887 to a Tamil Brahmin Iyengar family at Erode, Tamil Nadu.

From the past times several different intellectual and learned person had made notable improvements and contributions to mathematics as some of the names are Brahmagupta, Bhaskara II, Mahavira and Aryabhata, etc.

Srinivasa Ramanujan was very young when he started working, his works appeared to be the true signs of an unfolding scholar and his contributions that adds Fractions, mathematical analysis, infinite series, number theory
and many more.

Importance of the Day

The day is celebrated to increase recognition among citizens about the significance of mathematics for the enhancement of people growth and mankind. People should accept that there are many measures which are taken to stimulate, influence and ingrain a positive mind towards studying the subject among the rising generation and young children.

The day observes providing training to the mathematics teachers and students through various academy and marks the improvement, production and distribution of teaching- learning material for Mathematics.

How this Day is Celebrated Every Year

The day can be observed in several schools, universities, colleges and many academic institutions in India. UNESCO and India both work together in order to spread the importance of learning Mathematics.

The National Academy of Science India (NASI) is the most famous old science academy in Allahabad starts a seminar which is visited by well- known lecturers in the field of Mathematics.

They remember Srinivasa Ramanujan who had acquired knowledge in Trigonometry on his own and also developed many mathematics theorems.
