Every year National Deworming Day is observed on 10th February. This day was an initiative by Ministry of Health and Family welfare year. To make every child in India worm free.
Around 241 million children under the age of 1 to 14 years are in peril of parasitic intestinal worms in the country. It is also named as Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH).
The day was first observed in February 2015 with the aim to provide the children with a deworming medicine known as albendazole tablets. It also focuses on lessening the problem of (STHs).
And to raise awareness about the significance of environmental health and hygiene. It advices people about the infections and also the solution to prevent STHs.
Follow these measures to prevent intestinal worms
Intestinal worms are parasites that develops within the human intestine. They also absorbs the body nutrients that are required for the human body.
Suppose, a kid eat Peas that are grown in contaminated soil, he gets ill, especially if Peas are not perfectly cleaned and beaked. Therefore, the parasites develops via ingested fruits, vegetables and via contaminated soil.
It is advised to the parents to not let their child play in the soil or eat with soiled hands.

Treatment of STH
- For the treatment of intestinal worms, WHO suggests anti- helminthic medicine or drug which the central government of India has approved.
