Meet Imagen 4: Google’s Cutting-Edge AI Image Generator.
Google Introduces Imagen 4: A Smarter, Sharper AI for Image Creation
At Google I/O 2025, the tech giant revealed Imagen 4, its newest AI image-generation model, boasting major improvements over the previous version, Imagen 3.
This upgraded model is designed to produce highly detailed visuals, with the ability to accurately replicate textures such as cloth, water droplets, and animal fur. It supports both realistic and artistic styles and can generate visuals in different aspect ratios with resolutions up to 2K.
Josh Woodward, who heads Google’s Labs team, shared that Imagen 4 delivers a noticeable boost in image quality. He added, “We’ve made major enhancements to how the model handles text and graphic layout, making it ideal for use in creative assets like presentations, invites, and other text-integrated designs.
While several AI image generators are already making waves, like ChatGPT’s popular tool and Midjourney’s version, Google’s Imagen 4 is stepping into the spotlight with a promise to raise the bar.

What gives Imagen 4 its edge? Speed. Google says it’s noticeably quicker than the previous model, Imagen 3, and even more improvements are on the way. An upgraded version, expected soon, could offer performance up to 10 times faster than before.
Currently, Imagen 4 is available through the Gemini app, Whisk, Vertex AI, and across several Google Workspace apps such as Docs, Slides, and Vids, bringing advanced image generation directly into everyday productivity tools.
