Get ready to personalize your lock screen! Nothing’s CEO has confirmed the launch of Nothing OS 3.0 in September 2024, boasting a new lock screen customization feature. This update promises to revamp the lock screen interface, offering users more control over its look and feel.

Following the recent news about the Nothing Phone 3 delay, the company’s CEO has offered a glimpse of their upcoming operating system. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Carl Pei unveiled some images showcasing a new feature in Nothing OS 3.0.

The recent teasers for Nothing OS 3.0 reveal a major focus on lock screen personalization. Images shared by the CEO hint at a revamped interface with increased functionality. Users will reportedly have three distinct styles to choose from, allowing for a more customized lock screen experience.

Adding to the excitement, Carl Pei confirmed a September 2024 launch for Nothing OS 3.0. While more lock screen styles might be available, he offered a sneak peek of three options: Default, Clock+Widgets, and Expanded Widget Area. The default layout displays the classic clock, date, and day. The Clock+Widgets option takes things further, potentially allowing quick access to features like weather, contacts, and even shortcuts through a dotted font clock display. The Expanded Widget Area builds on this concept, offering a larger canvas for even more customization.

Taking customization a step further, the Expanded Widget Area offers a supersized version of the Clock+Widgets style with even larger tiles. Pei’s image showcases both analog and digital clocks alongside an expanded time and date widget, hinting at the potential for even more user-added features on the lock screen.

Beyond lock screen tweaks, Pei also shed light on the upcoming interactive dot animations within the OS. This dynamic element could extend to the Quick Settings panel as well. The image shared reveals a three-layer system for the dot: an input image layer, a live interaction layer, and a final output layer – suggesting a more interactive and potentially customizable experience.

In a recent announcement, Carl Pei confirmed that Nothing Phone 3’s launch has been pushed to 2025. This shift in schedule allows the company to focus on a key feature: deep AI integration within the phone’s operating system. This AI is designed to personalize the user experience, tailoring the phone to your individual needs.
