Krishna Janmashtami 2023: The Auspicious Yoga That Forms After 30 Years

Krishna Janmashtami is one of the most important festivals for Hindus around the world. This year, it will be celebrated on September 6-7. According to Hindu beliefs, Lord Krishna was born on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. This day is therefore of great significance to Krishna devotees.

One of the most popular rituals performed on Krishna Janmashtami is the breaking of the dahi handi.  Dahi handi is a large clay pot filled with curd, butter, and sweets that is suspended from a high pole. Young men form human pyramids to reach the pot and break it open. This ritual is said to symbolize Krishna’s victory over the demon Putana.

Krishna Janmashtami is a time for joy, celebration, and reflection. It is a time to remember the teachings of Krishna and to strive to live a life that is in accordance with his principles.

The significance of Krishna Janmashtami is twofold. On the one hand, it is a time to celebrate the birth of Krishna, a divine figure who is revered by Hindus for his playful and mischievous nature, his compassion for the downtrodden, and his teachings on love, compassion, and duty. On the other hand, Krishna Janmashtami is also a time to reflect on the meaning of life and to renew one’s commitment to living a moral and ethical life.

This year’s Janmashtami is unique because of the special alignment of planets and constellations. According to the panchang, an auspicious yoga will form after 30 years on Janmashtami. Let us now learn about the Janmashtami puja muhurta, mantra, vrat, and puja vidhi.
