Every year International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th March, the day is important because it spread the awareness of gender equality to make a better society, free of gender partiality.

History
According to the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), International Women’s Day become known from the undertakings of Labour movements in North America and Europe in the 20th Century.
The 1st National Women’s Day was celebrated in the US on 28th February, in the year 1909, in observation of the 1908 garment workers, strike in the city New York, the time when women protested against grinding working
conditions.
The UN charter in 1945 became the first international agreement to assert the principal of equality between male and female. Afterwards, on 8th March’1975, during International Women’s year, United Nations celebrates its 1st official International Women’s Day.
Concerning the embrace of a resolution by the United Nations General Assembly in 1977, International Women’s Day become a conventional worldwide holiday for Women’s right and world harmony.

Theme of this year
This year the theme of International Women’s Day is “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality” to draw attention to the significance of technology in guiding gender issues to light.
Here are Some Facts about Women in Digital Technology
- As per the reports of a World Economic Forum, 75 percent of employment will be related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) areas by the end of 2050, yet at present times, women hold just 22 percent of jobs in artificial intelligence.
- According to a study 51 countries disclosed 38% women had personally experienced online assault, as per the reports of Gender Snapshot report in 2022.
- For this International Day Director General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay stated that “there is a need to ensure that women and girls benefit from the opportunities given by technological transformation.
