Indian Opener Murali Vijay Confirms his Retirement from all Forms of International Cricket

Former Indian opener Murali Vijay confirms his retirement from all forms of International Cricket on 30th January. Opener, who is now 38 years, seen playing 61 Tests, 17 ODIs and 9 T20I matches in his cricket career of 7 years from 2008 to 2015.

The Tamil Nadu player also played in 106 IPL matches and scored 2,619 runs at a strike- rate of 121.87 and completed century for 2 times and half- century for 13 times.

He turned out for Chennai Super Kings, Delhi capital and Punjab Kings. On Monday, the player expresses gratefulness and humility on his social media Account and said “I announce my retirement from all forms of international cricket”.

The player was glad with his splendid journey from 2002 to 2018, these times were most wonderful years of his life as he got the privileged to represent India at the highest level of sport, on the other side he was also excited while announcing the news that now he will explore more opportunities in the world of cricket and also the business side of this, where he will carry on with participating in the sport that he admire and love and get the chance to challenge himself in new and different platform.

He believe that this will be the next step of his career as a cricket player. The statement added “I wish all my Former teammates and the Indian cricket team all the best for upcoming endeavor”.

In 2018, the player was seen last playing for India in the Australia tour. Afterwards he was axed from the Indian team. In Ranji Trophy, Vijay last played for Tamil Nadu in 2019 and has not played match since last year’s game of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

However, Vijay expresses his desire in a cheeky dig at BCCI, to come back to the sport and is now seeking for opportunities in overseas. “I now want to play little bit of competitive cricket”, Vijay told this on a weekly show on
sport star.

The opener player, who has scored 3,928 runs for his team in 61 Test and 339 runs in 17 ODIs, also felt the need to alter his way of thinking and become mentally strong.
