India Celebrating Farmers Day– Check Significance and History

All across India National Farmer Day is observed on 23 rd December. Our country’s Farmers are support system of economy and an important contributor to agriculture affluence and wealth, the day is observed to Kudos and praise all the accountable and responsible farmers for giving their contributions to the community.

The National Farmers Day is celebrated to commemorate the date of birth of India’s fifth Prime Minister, Chaudhary Charan Singh.

Importance of the Day

As we already know India’s agriculture share in GDP of about 20 percent, this is a crucial distributor in our country’s advancement and expansion, the day applauds the allegiance and contribution of farmers. It is also celebrated with the motive of spread awareness across the country to make sure farmers social and economic welfare and security.

The Central Government also observe this date to concentrate on providing farmers with the most concern and enhanced agricultural consciousness and understanding to increase their yield.

History of the Day

More than 45% of our country’s population is relying and depending on agriculture for their living and make the large part of the country’s rural inhabitants.

India is regarded as a country of rural areas and agriculture and the tenth central government in 2001 promulgated to honors Chaudhary Charan Singh’s contribution towards the agriculture and development of Indian Farmers by observing his date of birth as National Farmers day or Kisan Diwas.

After then the country started celebrating National Farmers Day on 23 rd December every year. On this day various awareness programme, camps and initiatives are organized all around the country to aware people the important role of Indian Farmers and their contribution towards Indian economy and development.

Peasants Leader- Chaudhary Charan Singh

Chaudhary Charan Singh was born on 23rd December, 1902 at Noorpur in Meerut district. He was the fifth Indian Prime Minister from 28 July 1979 to 14 July 1980. He was also the peasant’s leader from Uttar Pradesh, as he came from a Kisan Family, he emphasized the significance of rural and agrarian enhancement and growth. The man made non- stoppable efforts to make organization for the country.
