“Har Ghar Tringa Campaign” important rules regarding the national flag. Har Ghar Tiranga campaign will start from today on completion of 75 years of independence. This campaign will be run from 13 to 15 August. In such a situation it is important to know the rules under the flag code of India related to the use and hoisting of the Indian Flag tricolor is governed by the prevention of insults to National Pride Act 1971 and the flag code of India 2002.

Shape of the Flag

The flag should always be rectangular, the ration of length should be 3:2.

The flag can be of any size, as long as it is in this ratio

Material

The flag code was amended through an order dated 20 December 2021. Now the use of machine – woven flags made of polyster is also permitted. Earlier, hand – spun and hand- woven fabrics of wool, cotton, silk, khadi, etc were used.

For how long can the tricolor be hoisted?

Earlier it was mandatory that if the flag was to be flown in the open, it should be flown from sunrise to sunset. However, it was amended in July 2022 so that people can put up flags at their homes day and night.

What should be taken care of ?

  1. The flag should be kept with respect.
  2. When flying with another flag care should be taken that the height of the tricolor is at the top.
  3. While hoisting the flag , the saffron color should always be kept on the top, when hoisted vertically, the saffron color should be on the right side with respect to the flag.

What should not do?

  1. A tattered flag should never be flown.
  2. The national flag shall not be used as a dress or uniform or as any dress.
  3. The national flag shall not be placed on the ground floor, water and should not touch these things while hoisting.
  4. It should not be used to wrap anything.
