ECI to announce assembly election dates for 5 states today

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will release the dates for the upcoming assembly elections in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will hold a press conference at 12 noon today to announce the schedule for assembly elections in five states: Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram.

The announcement will specify the dates for all key events in the election process, including the filing of nominations, polling days, and the declaration of results.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) held a meeting with observers for the upcoming assembly elections in Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana last Friday to discuss measures to control money power.

The tenure of the Madhya Pradesh legislative assembly will end on January 6, 2024, while the term of the Mizoram legislative assembly will end on December 17, 2023.

The ECI said that the Chief Election Commissioner, in a meeting with observers for the upcoming elections, asked them to work together to ensure that all candidates have an equal chance to win, and that the elections are conducted in a free and fair manner, without any inducement or pressure on voters.

The upcoming assembly elections in five Indian states will be a crucial test for political parties ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The results of these elections will not only determine the political landscape at the state level, but could also have a significant impact on the national elections. Parties are gearing up for high-stakes battles in several constituencies.
