During his visit to Jammu today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spearheaded several development initiatives, pledging to fulfill the long-held aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. The initiatives included capital projects worth Rs. 46,000 crore, with Rs. 32,500 crore allocated specifically for projects in Jammu and Rs. 13,500 crore for development projects across India.
Upon his arrival in Jammu, the Prime Minister received a warm welcome at the airport, where he was greeted by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, and prominent leaders of the Bhartiya Janta Party, including the president of the Jammu Kashmir unit, Ravinder Raina. A large crowd from across J&K gathered at the Maulana Azad stadium for the event, during which the Prime Minister handed out 1,500 appointment letters to newly appointed government employees from Jammu and Kashmir.
He also engaged in discussions with beneficiaries of various government schemes at the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Jammu program, where he noted a significant increase in the enrollment of children by over 45,000, particularly highlighting the progress among female beneficiaries. The enthusiastic and transparent communication from the people of Jammu and Kashmir portrayed their happiness and contentment, reinforcing the Prime Minister’s pledge to transform the region into a flourishing one.
Expressing his deep-seated faith in the people, the Prime Minister articulated their united quest for a developed Jammu and Kashmir, offering steadfast assurance and pledging to realize the long-cherished dreams nurtured over the past seven decades. He also highlighted the remarkable surge in the education sector across India in recent decades, emphasizing the establishment of a record number of schools, colleges, and universities. Additionally, he announced the establishment of 50 new degree colleges in Jammu & Kashmir, marking a significant milestone in higher education offerings in the region.

Finally, the Prime Minister officially inaugurated the Valley’s first electric train, establishing a new rail link between Sangaldan and Baramulla.
