Although, the 2023 edition of the Durand Cup will feature 24 teams, including teams from the Indian Super League, I-League, and the Armed Forces. Nepal and Bangladesh army teams join the competition this season. Teams are in 6 groups of 4. The top six teams from the group stage will advance to the knockout stage. The Durand Cup is the season-opening tournament of India’s domestic football calendar.

Bengaluru FC are the defending champions and also having defeated Mumbai City FC 2-1 in the final in 2022.

The 132nd edition of the Durand Cup will feature 24 teams divided into six groups of four teams each. The groups are as follows:
