Officials announced on Monday that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will change the name of the HUDA City Centre metro station on the Yellow Line. The new name will be ‘Millennium City Centre Gurugram’. They mentioned that the station is located in Gurugram, which is in the state of Haryana.

They have started the process of updating the name in all official documents, signs, announcements, and it will be changed gradually.
The DMRC made changes to their earlier plan of renaming the HUDA City Centre Metro station. In a second tweet, they announced that the new name would be ‘Millennium City Centre’ instead of ‘Gurugram City Centre’. This was the second time they made changes within just three hours. The DMRC later made a third attempt and this time they finalized the name as ‘Millennium City Centre Gurugram’. They shared this information on Twitter, stating that the full name of the station will be Millennium City Centre Gurugram.

According to officials familiar with the matter, both the Central government and Haryana government requested the renaming of the station. The Public Investment Board approved a metro corridor project between HUDA City Centre and Cyber City in Gurugram last year. Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal praised the efforts of the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation, team for obtaining clearance for the project from the Board. He mentioned that it would provide an efficient and eco-friendly transportation system for the people of Haryana, particularly those residing in Gurugram and nearby areas. This will ensure smooth connectivity from Gurugram to the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
