Delhi Rains Cool City by 6 Degrees

Delhi received light rain late on Monday, causing the temperature to drop by 6 degrees Celsius. Over the past 24 hours, the temperature in Delhi fell from 29 degrees Celsius to 23 degrees Celsius. Videos from areas like Rafi Marg and Moti Bagh show light to moderate rain, which caused minor traffic jams and congestion.

Traffic was slow on major roads in Delhi and the NCR due to light to moderate rain, with heavy rain in isolated places. The Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) had earlier predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain, with heavy intensity rain over isolated places and gusty winds up to 50 km/h.

Thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain are also expected in Nazibabad, Bijnaur, Chandpur, Kithor, Amroha, Moradabad, Garhmukteshwar, Rampur, Sambhal, Billari, Milak, Chandausi, Bahajoi, Bareilly, Sahaswan, and Badayun (U.P.).

  • Hapur, Gulaoti, Siyana, Jahangirabad, Anupshahar, Debai, and Narora (U.P.) are expected to experience light to moderate rain over the next two hours, according to the weather center.
  • Earlier on Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department predicted light to moderate rain in several parts of the northeast region of the country within the next two days.

Tamil Nadu and Kerala are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, according to the weather department. Several parts of Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul district received heavy rainfall on Monday morning, with Dindigul town receiving 35 mm of rain, Kodaikanal (Rose Garden) receiving 30 mm, Kamatchipurm receiving 11.5 mm, and Briyant Park in Kodaikanal receiving 43.6 mm.

Northeast India to see more rain

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the northeast region of the country is likely to receive more rain in the next two days. Tamil Nadu and Kerala are also likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The IMD has also predicted that the northeast monsoon will begin in Tamil Nadu on October 18. The northeast monsoon is an important source of rainfall for the state, and it typically lasts from October to December.
