With India recording 10,000 plus Coronavirus cases for the past few days, Centre on Wednesday has directed states and Union Territories to make sure that random RT-PCR tests are conducted on each of the incoming flights.
Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan while issuing the advisory, asked them to focus on early detection and timely management of positive and confirmed cases, and work towards containment of outbreaks of new coronavirus variants.
He said that all positive specimens should be sent for genome sequencing and all passengers testing positive should be advised to completely isolate themselves and manager symptoms as per existing guidelines.
This revised strategy further focusses on community based surveillance for early detection of cases in the community.
“I am sure the state governments and UT administrations shall make these guidelines to enable us to retain and build on the gains made so far in this fight again COVID-19”, the advisory said.
