Every year, India celebrates National Youth Day on 12 th January. This day is observed to remember the birth anniversary of India’s most influential leader in Indian history “Swami Vivekananda”.
In the year 1984, Central Government of India promulgates 12 th January as National Youth Day and since 1985, Indian Citizens started observing this day every year.
The theme of this year is “Viksit Yuva – Viksit Bharat”.
The National Youth Festival is celebrated annually to give a proper guidance to our younger generation at the national level, along with motivating them towards country’s enhancement and nation building. The day brings many different religion, cultures from all around India to a single platform and unites the people who happily participates in the program with the slogan of EK Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.
In 2023, the festival will be celebrated in Hubballi – Dharwad in Karnataka from 12 th to 16 th of January. And the Theme for this year is “Viksit Yuva- Viksit Bharat”.
The Day is commemorated to celebrate the youth spirit of India, and motivate them to adopt Swami Vivekananda’s ideas and philosophies.

PM Modi to Inaugurate National Youth Festival Today
PM Modi will inaugurate National Youth Festival in Karnataka today. This year we are going to observe 26 th National Youth Festival of India. The occasion will be started by our Prime Minister in Hubballi District of the Southern state.
In addition, various school and colleges will conduct essay contests, speeches, reading songs and seminars.
History
On 12 th January 1984, our Government started celebrating the birthday of Swami Vivekananda as National Youth Day. And Since then, the day has been commemorated as National Youth Day throughout India.
The decision was made with an intension to produce a glorious life for the country by motivating the youths to adopt inspiration from the life and inventiveness of Vivekananda to get the never- ending liveliness.
