The current iPad mini has been criticized for “jelly scrolling,” an issue where half the screen refreshes slower than the other, causing a wobbly effect. This problem has even led to lawsuits claiming the device is unusable.
Apple is tackling the jelly scrolling issue that plagued the previous iPad mini with a display upgrade. However, don’t expect a complete overhaul just yet. We’ll likely still see the familiar LCD technology and 60Hz refresh rate. While this might disappoint some hoping for OLED or a smoother refresh rate, fixing the jelly scrolling is a big win for usability.
Speaking of performance, the wait for a new iPad mini is expected to be rewarded with a significant boost. The current A15 Bionic chip is likely to be replaced by the powerful A17 chip.
