Apple to Launch iPhone 15 Series in India on September 12
Apple is all set to launch its latest iPhone 15 series on September 12, 2023, at its Apple Park headquarters in California. The event will also see the launch of new Apple Watch and MacBook or AirPods.
The iPhone 15 series is expected to feature a number of upgrades over the previous generation, including a new design, improved camera system, and faster processor. The devices are also expected to be powered by the A17 Bionic chip.
In India, the iPhone 15 series is expected to be launched alongside other countries in the first wave. This means that Indian consumers will be able to buy the devices on the same day as consumers in the US and other major markets.
This is the fifth year in a row that Apple has launched the iPhone in India in the first wave. The company started doing this with the iPhone X, which was the first iPhone to be launched in India on the same day as its global launch.
The iPhone 15 series is expected to be a popular choice among Indian consumers. The devices are known for their premium design, powerful performance, and long battery life.
Apple is also reportedly aiming to launch the iPhone 15, which will be manufactured in India by Foxconn, in mid-September. This would be a few days after the global launch of the device.
In 2022, the iPhone 14 was manufactured in India by Foxconn within 10 days of its global launch. However, it took around a month for the made-in-India iPhones to reach the market. This year, Apple is aiming to narrow the gap between the global and Indian launches to a few days.
Trial production of the iPhone 15 has already started in China, and components have started coming into Foxconn’s Indian facilities. This suggests that Apple is well on track to meet its target of launching the iPhone 15 in India in mid-September.
This would be a significant milestone for Apple, as it would be the first time that the company has launched a new iPhone in India at the same time as the global launch. It would also be a boost for the Indian manufacturing industry, as it would show that Apple is committed to making its products in India.
Apple is planning to initially sell the India-made iPhone 15 in the country to meet the expected demand during the festive season. The company may start exporting the iPhone 15 to Europe and the US from December.

India accounts for 7% of Apple’s global production, up from less than 1% before the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for smartphones was introduced in 2021. In the June quarter of fiscal year 2024 (FY24), iPhone exports from India crossed Rs 20,000 crore, or about half of what it had achieved in all of FY23. This is a five-fold increase from the previous year. The iPhone is the single largest contributor to electronics exports from India, accounting for 35% of the total.
The decision to initially sell the iPhone 15 in India is a strategic one. The festive season is a major shopping season in India, and Apple is hoping to capitalize on the demand. The company is also likely to benefit from the PLI scheme, which provides financial incentives to companies that manufacture products in India.
The export of the iPhone 15 to Europe and the US is also a positive development. It shows that Apple is confident in the quality of the India-made iPhones and that it is committed to expanding its manufacturing footprint in the country.
