Mission Raniganj praised the screenplay by director Tinu Suresh Desai for keeping viewers engaged and invested, with several hard-hitting moments. However, the review also criticized Desai for letting Akshay Kumar’s character take center stage and putting the story on the backseat. The review noted that when Kumar dominated most of the screen time, the focus was primarily on his actions and efforts rather than the ordeal of the miners stuck deep in the mine.
