Tulsi Gabbard Highlights India-US Trade Relations Amid Tariff Concerns
Tulsi Gabbard, the U.S. Director of National Intelligence, currently on an official visit to India, addressed the ongoing tariff discussions on Monday. She emphasized that both nations—under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former President Donald Trump—have established high-level direct communication to navigate trade challenges.

Speaking at the Raisina Dialogue, hosted by the Observer Research Foundation in New Delhi, Gabbard highlighted the potential for strengthening economic ties between India and the U.S.

“From my conversations with Indian officials over the past few days, I see a significant opportunity to enhance our economic relationship. It’s encouraging that the discussion is shifting from a tariff-centric debate to a more optimistic outlook on trade collaboration,” she noted.

Gabbard further emphasized that both leaders are prioritizing national interests—with PM Modi focused on India’s economic growth and opportunities for its citizens, while Trump remains committed to advancing U.S. trade objectives and safeguarding American economic interests.

The U.S. Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, emphasized that both President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are committed to finding a balanced and effective resolution to ongoing trade discussions.

“What stands out as a great positive is that we have two leaders with common sense, both actively seeking practical solutions. The direct dialogue happening at the highest levels—between our heads of state, secretaries, and cabinet members—will be crucial in shaping the path forward. I’m particularly excited about the strong interest from the private sectors in both India and the U.S.,” she remarked.

Finding Strength in Lord Krishna’s Teachings
Gabbard also shared how she draws strength and guidance from Lord Krishna’s teachings in the Bhagavad Gita, especially during challenging moments in both her personal and professional life.

“Whether serving in conflict zones around the world or facing present-day challenges, I always turn to Lord Krishna’s wisdom imparted to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita—both in the best and worst of times,” she said.

Diplomatic Engagements in India
Gabbard arrived in New Delhi early Sunday for a two and a half-day visit, engaging in high-level discussions aimed at enhancing India-U.S. strategic cooperation.

Earlier in the day, she met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss strengthening bilateral ties in defense and intelligence sharing. Singh later expressed his appreciation for the meeting, stating on social media.

“Had a meaningful discussion with the U.S. Director of National Intelligence on further deepening the India-U.S. partnership, particularly in defense collaboration and intelligence exchange.”

On Sunday, she also discussed various dimensions of the Indo-U.S. relationship with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, reaffirming their mutual commitment to cooperation.
