Meta may launch AR glasses and five wearables this year.
Last week, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that the company had already sold over a million pairs of its augmented reality-powered Ray-Ban smart glasses. With ambitious long-term goals, Meta aims to eventually sell “hundreds of millions and even billions” of AI-enhanced glasses.
Now, fresh reports indicate that the tech giant is gearing up to strengthen its foothold in the wearable tech market by launching nearly six new devices this year. According to Business Insider, Andrew Bosworth, the head of Meta’s Reality Labs, shared an internal memo outlining the company’s upcoming plans.
The internal memo, titled “2025: The Year of Greatness,” hints at Meta’s development of a cutting-edge AI-driven augmented reality smart glass equipped with an integrated display.
Code-named “Hypernova,” this next-gen wearable will feature a display at the bottom of the right lens, allowing users to view notifications, access captured images, and even translate conversations in real-time. However, due to the inclusion of this display, sources familiar with the project estimate that the device could come with a price tag of approximately $1,000.
Meta is also developing Oakley-branded smart glasses designed specifically for athletes and cyclists, featuring a centrally positioned camera for improved functionality. Additionally, the company appears to be expanding its lineup with various eyewear styles. Like the Ray-Ban Wayfarer smart glasses, these upcoming models could be available in variants such as Skylar and Headliner.
In addition to its new smart glasses, Meta is reportedly experimenting with a wrist strap called “Ceres,” designed to control the glasses seamlessly. This device could potentially be bundled with Hypernova, the upcoming smart glasses featuring a built-in display.

Meta has also been exploring the smartwatch market for years, and 2025 could be the year it finally takes on industry leaders like Apple, Samsung, and Google.
While it’s still unclear how many of these products will make it to market, Meta’s rapid progress in smart glasses and augmented reality could push competitors to introduce similar innovations at more competitive price points.
