Noida to Delhi Airport: Metro Link Unveiled

The Noida Metro Rail Corporation is working on a project to improve travel for thousands of passengers commuting to the airport, benefiting people across Delhi-NCR. The plan involves extending the Golden Line Metro from Aerocity to Kalindi Kunj, enhancing connectivity between Indira Gandhi International Airport and the upcoming Noida International Airport. This expansion simplifies travel for air travelers and residents in the NCR region.

The Golden Line Metro currently runs from Aerocity to Tughlakabad, and plans are underway to extend it by an additional 5 kilometers to Kalindi Kunj. This extension will connect with the Magenta Line at Botanical Garden Metro Station, making airport travel more convenient and improving accessibility for residents of Noida, Greater Noida, and nearby areas.

As part of this elevated expansion, two new stations—Sarita Vihar and Madanpur Khadar—will be constructed. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has requested ₹950 crore from the Yamuna Development Authority to fund the project, which is expected to be completed within three years. The goal is to enhance connectivity and reduce travel time across the NCR region.

While the metro link to Noida International Airport is still six years away, the DMRC is prioritizing the Kalindi Kunj extension to provide immediate relief to commuters. Once approved, this project will be a major milestone for public transport. The Magenta Line, which already runs from Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden via Kalindi Kunj, consists of 25 stations—15 underground and 10 elevated—serving as a key transit route in the region.

Current Status of the Golden Line:
The Golden Line, also referred to as Line 10, is currently under construction and will link Terminal 1 of IGI Airport to Tughlakabad. Spanning approximately 25.82 kilometers, this corridor will feature 16 stations, including 12 underground and 4 elevated ones. As a part of Delhi Metro’s Phase IV expansion, the project is targeted for completion by March 2027.

Proposed Extension Details:
Plans are in place to extend the Golden Line by an additional 5 kilometers, creating an elevated corridor from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. This extension will intersect with the Magenta Line at Botanical Garden Metro Station, ensuring smooth connectivity for airport-bound passengers while also improving access for residents of Noida, Greater Noida, and nearby areas.
