Manmohan Singh (92) Hospitalized at AIIMS Delhi

Dr. Manmohan Singh, the 92-year-old former Prime Minister, has been hospitalized at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences due to a health setback. Sources reveal that he was brought to the hospital’s emergency unit at approximately 8 PM.

The exact reason for Manmohan Singh’s hospitalization remains unclear.

He gained national recognition as the Finance Minister in PV Narasimha Rao’s government from 1991 to 1996, spearheading transformative economic reforms that reshaped the country’s economy.

Serving two terms as Prime Minister under the UPA from 2004 to 2014, he remained a key figure in Indian politics and was a Rajya Sabha member until earlier this year.

Manmohan Singh retired from the Rajya Sabha in April. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited the premier institute to assess his health condition.

Manmohan Singh, India’s first and only Sikh Prime Minister, entered the Rajya Sabha in 1991, following his appointment as Finance Minister in June of the same year under the leadership of PV Narasimha Rao.

He was instrumental in shaping India’s economic policies and played a pivotal role in the country’s economic liberalization, which included major reforms such as deregulation, trade liberalization, and the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

He served as a representative of Assam in the Upper House for five consecutive terms before transitioning to represent Rajasthan in 2019.

In his final address in Parliament, Singh delivered a scathing critique of demonetization, famously describing it as “organized loot and legalized plunder.
