“The National Capital Region Transportation Corporation (NCRTC) is set to determine the route linking Greater Noida and Greater Noida West to the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) within a week. Three potential routes have been outlined, and a panel of experts from regulatory agencies, convened by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Greater Noida Authority, will assist in the selection process.
Compared to metro trains, rapid rails can achieve double to triple the speed, with a top velocity of 160 kph. The proposed route aims to seamlessly integrate with the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, extending connectivity to the Jewar Airport. Starting from Siddharth Vihar, Ghaziabad, and passing through Char Murti Chowk (Gaur Chowk), a key intersection in Greater Noida West, three different routes originating from Char Murti Chowk were presented during a meeting on Thursday.
The first proposed route follows a spacious 130-meter-wide road towards Noida Airport, passing by the authority office and Pari Chowk. The second route utilizes a narrower 60-meter road originating in Greater Noida West. The last route winds through Knowledge Park-5, Surajpur, and Kasna before reaching the airport, as stated by officials.
To evaluate the three proposed routes, a dedicated team will be formed comprising the Additional CEO of the Greater Noida Authority, representatives from the planning and project departments, and individuals from NCRTC. To expedite the process, the CEO has requested an on-site inspection of all routes, with feedback and recommendations expected within a week. Simultaneously, the authority will provide a report outlining existing infrastructure along each route. Following this, NCRTC will co
conduct a comprehensive route analysis, including detailed cost estimates and potential environmental impact, to be submitted to the authority for final decision-making.
Ravi Kumar emphasized that selecting the ideal route should address both current and projected traffic demands, ensuring seamless connectivity for Greater Noida residents and alleviating congestion concerns.
