Indian Air Force Celebrates 91st Anniversary with Parade and Airshow

The Indian Air Force marked its 91st anniversary with a ceremonial parade at Bamrauli Air Force Station in Prayagraj on the morning of October 8.

The 91st anniversary celebrations of the Indian Air Force kicked off with a parade and flypast at Bamrauli Air Force Station in Prayagraj at around 7:45 am. Later in the day, a mega airshow will take place over Triveni Sangam, starting at 2:30 pm. The airshow will feature a lineup of fighter aircraft including the Sukhoi 30, MiG 29, Rafale, and Jaguar, as well as a performance by the Akashganga team. Thousands of spectators are expected to gather at Sangam to witness this historic event.

The Indian Air Force held a full dress rehearsal in Prayagraj on October 6 in preparation for its 91st anniversary celebrations on October 8. The main highlights of the celebrations will be a ceremonial parade and an aerial display over Sangam in the afternoon.

Air Force Day celebrates the official establishment of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in 1932. It is an annual event attended by the IAF chief and senior officers.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) was founded in 1932 as a support force for the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom. Its first operational squadron was formed in 1933. Since 1950, the IAF has played a vital role in several major operations, including Operation Vijay, Operation Meghdoot, Operation Cactus, and Operation Poomalai.

President Droupadi Murmu greeted all air warriors and their families on Air Force Day in a post on X. She praised the Indian Air Force for its strength, courage, and dynamism, and for always being prepared to face challenges. She also saluted the air force personnel for their inspiring heroism, not only in protecting the skies but also in providing humanitarian assistance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished all air warriors and their families a happy Air Force Day in a post on X. He praised the Indian Air Force for its valor, commitment, and dedication, and for ensuring the safety of India’s skies.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah greeted all Indian Air Force personnel and their families on their 91st anniversary. He praised the air warriors for their significant role in keeping India safe and for projecting their air power beyond boundaries.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the Indian Air Force for its bravery and dedication in protecting India’s interests during both war and peace. He commemorated the invaluable service and sacrifices made by air warriors to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty.
