Maha Shivratri, a Hindu Festival which fundamentally translates to the great night of God Shiva, it is regarded as one of the most auspicious carnivals in India.
This is celebrated once a year with much religious zeal and exhilaration around the country. This time Maha Shivratri will be celebrated on 18th February’2023.
So, be ready to chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ on this auspicious day. Every state in the country such as Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Panjab, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka observes the Festival.

On this day Shiva Archana is performed in God Shiva temples across the country by devotees who present milk, Bel Patra, dhatura, Sandalwood, sugar, ghee and a few more items to the Shivling.
These devotees go through a 24- hour Fast and eat next morning after the worship. During the Fast Devotees consume pure (Satvik) Foods such as Ragi, Sabudana, and Fruits etc.
Check Fasting Rules
1. Wake up early around 6 am.
2. Devotees should take a bath and wear clean clothes.
3. To make this day more fruitful, devotees recite “Om Namah Sivay” many times.
4. As you know the Shivratri Puja is performed at night, believers take another bath in the evening before they start evening Shiv Puja. Following a bath, the next day, Devotees break their fast.
5. They make offerings to Lord Shiva like Milk, Dhatura Flowers, Sandalwood paste, yoghurt, Bel Patra, honey, ghee and sugar.
6. As per the Drik Panchang, Devotees should break their fast between dawn and end of Chaturdashi Thithi.
