Indian railways offers many facilities for the passengers from booking of tickets to allotment of confirmed tickets. Apart from this, if you do not want to travel even after booking, then you can cancel the ticket and get a refund.
At the same time, many people are unaware that confirmed birth is given for children too but full charge has to be paid for it. However, children up to the age of 5 years are not required to take a ticket to travel in the train.
According to IRCTC website, Ministry of Railway had issued a circular dated 06.03 , 2020, stating that no ticket is required to be taken if children below five years of age. However, if you book of birth a or sit for a child of five years or lass, then you have to pay the full ticket amount.
A part from this, if the age of the child is more then five years and less than 12 years. then he has to pay 50% of the fare for travelling in the train
Indian Railways Ticket Booking for Kids
1. Railways put the special seat in the train, named it ‘ baby birth’ –
It is informed that Indian Railways has not made any changes regarding booking of tickets for children travelling in the train. The clarification clearly states that, on the demand of passengers, the have given the option to by ticket and book a baby birth in train for a child below five years of age.
And if they do not want a separate birth, the journey is free as before.
2. Kids between 5-12 years can travel at half the price of ticket –
Similarly, for a child below the age of 5 to 12 years the fare is 50 percent, but the full fare will have to be paid with the booking of the seat. At the same time, for children above 12 years, the full fare of the seat or birth has to be paid.
3. Kids below five years doesn’t need to pay amount without birth booking –
It has been clearly informed in the circular from the Ministry of railways that if a child below five year has to travel in a train without a ticket, then no change will be taken for it, but no booking the ticket, the full seat fare will be charged.
