Home Minister Amit Shah has directed authorities to ensure the free movement of people on all roads in Manipur starting March 8. He also ordered strict action against anyone attempting to block roads.

 

The directive came after Mr. Shah chaired a high-level review meeting in Delhi on the security situation in the conflict-hit state. The meeting, the first since the imposition of President’s Rule, focused on restoring normalcy in Manipur, which has been struggling with ethnic violence since May 2023. The state has faced nearly two years of unrest, resulting in over 200 deaths
